Noah North won his second consecutive SC State Championship Saturday at the State Tournament in Anderson, SC. Noah defeated Stroud of South Point High School by major decision in the finals of the 152 lb. weight class. He won last year’s event at the 145 lb. weight class. “Noah was simply better in neutral today”, said head coach Ted Monroe. “He worked like a champion all season long and he deserves this championship.”
Taylor Catoe also represented LE well by making it to the finals where he lost a close decision to Rodgers of Eastside High. With the loss, Catoe finished in 2nd place overall. Simply making it to the finals was an impressive feat considering that a broken bone in his lower leg shut him down for approximately 5 weeks during the season. “I’m as proud of Taylor as I can be,” Monroe said of the senior.
Both senior wrestlers will have a little more of the season to compete as they have both been selected as representatives in the North / South All-star Match being held in Myrtle Beach Friday March 3rd and Saturday March 4th. Both Demon wrestlers also have qualified to compete in the Virginia National Championship Tournament later in the month.
Congratulations to both Noah North and Taylor Catoe on an outstanding season!
