Lugoff-Elgin High School
Camden High School
Recap of tonightâs Camden match. We opened the season with a 63-15 win over a solid Camden team. Our prelim guys got us off to a good start winning 5 of 6 matches. Matthew Jackson won a decision, while Caleb McDonald, Leonard Dunning, Justice Valdez, and JW Heron each recorded pins. Cameron Keane put up a good fight in his first-ever match, losing to a guy that placed 3rd in the State in 3A last season.
In the Varsity match, Eli McGee picked up the pin chain and put us ahead 6-0. After a Klay Crossway win by decision over a quality opponent, Jacob Carron grabbed the pin chain and put us up 15-0. Jay Murray dropped a close decision and Brett Carder put up a good fight, but was pinned late in the match to cut the Demon lead to 15-9. The team bounced back with both McCoy McElhaney and Cameron Payne each grabbing the pin chain, extending the lead to 27-9. Big Seth Branham was held out tonight after an ankle sprain in practice on Monday, forcing the Demons to forfeit and cutting the lead to 27-15. It was all Demons from there, closing the match on a 36-0 run. Picking up the pin chain were Noah Stockman, Brice Carron, Hunter Mathis, and Devin Wilson, while Jay Wilson and Lorenzo McGee recording wins by Forfeit. The team will wrestle again on Friday and Saturday at the Southern Slam at Eastside High School.
