Lugoff-Elgin B-Team coaches and players made school history Monday night by capturing the first B-Team win ever with a score of 40-39 over the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes.
“One of the first things I wanted to implement when I took over the Boys Basketball Program was the addition of a B-Team”, Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Brenden Marcell said, “It allows us to keep more players in our program, we get to teach them our style of basketball earlier, and it gives more kids an opportunity to play.”
B-Teams are typically composed of student-athletes in the 9th grade and below, this years squad features thirteen 9th graders and one 8th grader.
Monday night’s game was no easy task as Dutch Fork came out hot leading the Demons 14-11 after the 1st Quarter. The Demons fought back to tie the game up going into half 23-23. Third quarter proved to be the difference in the game as the Demons held Dutch Fork to just 6 points. Demons led going into the 4th 33-29 and held strong finishing 40-39.
