Varsity Boys took a trip to Brookland Cayce High School over the holidays to compete in the Inaugural Cayce Roundball Classic which featured some of the top teams in not only South Carolina, but Georgia and Florida as well.

In Game #1, the Demons were matched up with the Florida team: Fleming Island, who advanced to the Florida 8A State Semi Finals last season. Demons went into halftime with a 5point lead, 29-24. Fleming Island came out red-hot in the 2nd half, shooting a remarkable 60% from the 3. Fleming Island ended up quickly taking control to an 18 point lead. Demons used their full court pressure to claw their way back, cutting the game to 7, but ran out of steam to regain control. Fleming Island wins 62-49.

Game #2

Demons were matched up with a very athletic and scrappy Westside High School(Augusta,GA). In a game with almost 20 lead changes, this one needed overtime! In one of the most exciting games of the tournament, the Demons took victory with last second heroics from Senior Guard Devante Johnson who buried a 3pointer with 1 second left on the clock. Westside had one chance at full court shot, but it was off the mark. Demons had a stellar defensive effort and forced 30 turnovers which lead to 26points. Demons win 59-58!

Game #3

In the Demons final game of the Round Ball Classic, they faced a solid and tough South Aiken squad. The Demons started slow and trailed 8-24 early. Demons fought and got within striking range at 61-68, but poor shooting and timely turnovers ended their run. South Aiken would outlast the Demons, 72-61.
