Senior Michaelah Wise shot 2 over par at the Woodlands for a 38. Her score breaks the previous team record, 39 she set at The Spur at Northwoods last year. “This is the fifth year our team has been in existence and all five years, Michaelah has been our best and most consistent golfer. I am looking forward to seeing what she can do at the Region Qualifier this Monday,” said Coach Dommel. Without sophomore Tristan Ray available to play, the Lady Demons could not capitalize for the win.
Senior Kelsey Ham, shot her best round of the season for a 62. “Kelsey is starting to swing the club nicely. She began playing her sophomore year and is really starting to look like a golfer,” added Dommel. Freshman Brooke Jackson scored her season best of 59. “Brooke has been struggling with the pace of her swing, everywhere on the course, off the tee box or on the green. I hope this round will give her confidence as we head to post-season,” Dommel said. Jessica Ni shot a 62. “This was Jessica’s first time at the Woodlands. There are several holes that are blind shots and that lack of experience may have held her back today, ” said Dommel. Eighth grader Mary-Elizabeth McCaskill shot a 69. “Mary-Elizabeth began playing about four weeks ago, she is really making great strides. She is really into learning the game and asking really good questions,” added Dommel.
The Lady Demons travel Monday to Oak Hills for their Region Qualifier. “I expect Michaelah to compete for the Region Individual Championship. We do not have the depth to compete with Blythewood, but if we have a good day from Tristan Ray and a couple of our other golfers, we could give Spring Valley a run for second,” said Dommel. The top three teams advance to the State Qualifiers.
